With the tagline “where kids can be kids, and adults can be adults,” the new PB & Jack is a haven and a much needed addition to the Fairfax area. After many failed attempts of meeting up with other families at indoor spaces, mom and owner Dominique Deleage dreamed of creating a playspace for kids that also allows adults to socialize. “When we would meet up at coffee houses, the children would misbehave because they couldn’t play, and when we would meet at an indoor playspace, the parents couldn’t communicate,” says Deleage. PB & Jack is an indoor playspace, studio for enrichment classes and cafe all in one!

PB & Jack features a large ocean-themed play area with soft sea creature structures to climb on, crawl through and slide down. In the play area, there is an infant zone and separate enclosed Lego building area. Socks must be worn in the play area, and fun and friendly staff members are always ready to entertain the kids.

Next to the playspace is a cafe that allows parents to relax and engage in adult conversation or catch up on work and email by taking advantage of the free Wi-Fi. The cafe sells gourmet coffee and tea drinks, snacks, and even fare for kids such as sliced fruit, milk and juice boxes, and applesauce pouches. The cafe is pristine and parents can still see their children in the play area.

Besides all this fun, PB & Jack offers classes in two studio rooms for children and adults alike. Children can enjoy language classes, Lego engineering, music classes, ballet or art lessons while adults can choose from yoga, pilates or scrapbooking classes. PB & Jack hopes to offer support groups for new moms and mothers of children with special needs in the near future. Dominque met some of her closest friends through a local, informal moms’ group over seven years ago and hopes to give other new moms a sense of comfort, fun and support.

Feedback about PB & Jack has been extremely positive.   Dominque Deleage exclaims, “There are even people coming up to me and thanking me for opening the place!” She is truly grateful that people have come to check them out and loves to hear that her vision resonates with so many. She adds, “Some people say they like the clean, bright space in an area of Washington, D.C. that had nothing before,  others like that they can get work done while their kids play with us, and others just say they are happy to have somewhere to go when the weather doesn’t cooperate.”

PB & Jack is open seven days a week. In addition to classes, special free programs are scheduled throughout the year for adults and children alike. Visit the website for more information and keep up with PB & Jack on Facebook for the latest updates.
