Everyday Holiday

Love Thanksgiving but hate the preparation/clean-up involved?

The Little Apple Pastry Shop does all the heavy lifting with their Thanksgiving pie: a vision of textured taters, roast turkey (terrific), green beans, corn, celery (demonstrably crunchy), stuffing and cream gravy (peppery)—all contained in a no-fuss (read: throwaway) pie tin.

Owner Kay Pitts says they can turn out the signature pies virtually year round. But she recommends ordering at least 24 hours in advance (the cut-off balloons to circa two weeks before major holidays).

Little Apple Pastry Shop: 23217 Meetinghouse Lane, Suite 102, Aldie; 703-327-2500; www.hotapplepie.com. Pitts’ gourmet pies and homemade confections (a ganache-shrouded pound cake almost brought this office to a halt) are available from Tuesday through Saturday at the shop.
