Joanne Buto grew up on her Granny Anny’s soda bread.

She’s now boxed that knowledge into her Granny Roddy’s (Anny’s mom and the recipe originator) bread mixes, an easy-bake—no bread machine required—alternative that takes you from dough-less to fully fed in roughly 40 minutes.

Traditional raisin bread (Buto recommends subbing in cranberries, caraway seeds, chocolate chips or any other embellishment you like) is fluffy and strikes a tasty balance between savory and sweet. Whole wheat bread tastes heartier but remains light and chewy.

Granny Roddy’s mixes are available locally at Whole Foods and My Organic Markets or via: www.grannyroddys.net.
