Tech exec Wendy Buckley quit AOL a few years back to chase the dream of launching a gourmet wine shop—a dream which becomes reality with the debut of Clarendon’s screwtop wine bar. The multipurpose venture will feature a cozy dining area and bar alongside stacks of retail-ready wines.

Buckley plans to concentrate on boutique wineries and “hard-to-find” bargains. She expects to offer 40 by-the-glass options (custom wine flights will rotate around twice a month) as well as craft brews. The menu will focus on carefully composed artisan cheese and charcuterie plates, while a monthly wine club ($40) will bundle wines, charcuterie and chocolate.

1025 N. Fillmore St., Arlington; www.screwtopwinebar.com. Open for lunch and dinner, Tuesday through Sunday.
