Award-winning Civil War fiction author Jessica James has done it again – published another historical literary treasure – and just in time for the 150th anniversary of the Battle of First Manassas, too. By readers’ request, James penned the follow-up “happily ever after” to Shades of Grey, her Civil War fiction novel that outsold Gone With the Wind on Amazon. Her newest work, Noble Cause: A Novel of Love and War, follows the adventures of a Union Spy and a Confederate officer in Northern Virginia as they take up arms and fight for their respective sides in the face of battle.
In honor of the upcoming sesquicentennial event, James will be holding a book signing from 10 AM to 1 PM on Friday, July 22 at Prospero’s Books in Manassas, Va. Drop by to have your copy signed and meet the woman behind the novel.
With elements of courage, love and sacrifice, Noble Cause has already garnered attention and praise from the critics. Midwest Book Review called it “riveting historical fiction” and the novel snagged the 2011 John Esten Cooke Award for Southern Fiction and was a finalist for the 2011 Next Generation Indie Award for Regional Fiction.
“Since I launched my Civil War novel Noble Cause at the 150th anniversary of the start of the war in Charleston, South Carolina, in April, I think it is only fitting that I should attend the first major battle event as well,” James says on her blog.
