Family owned and operated Cork & Fork, a Gainesville wine and beer specialty store, has dibs on the best weekly watering hole to head to when you want to drink a beer but a Blue Moon or two just won’t cut it. I call it the “Let’s-Try-That-German-Sounding-One-Please.”
What sets them apart from other beer power hours? Hmm, well they offer free tastings … every Friday … with free samples of beer … on Fridays. Yep, I think that about answers the question.
Each weekly round of tastings features anywhere from four to twenty selections of beer. This week, the guys from Dogfish Head Alehouse will be gracing Cork & Fork with their presence and heading up the beer tastings. Specifically, Josh Fruchtman from their brewery in Delaware will be on site to show off a few brews and answer questions.
Raison D’etre, one of the brews set to be tasted on Friday, stands for more than just “reason for existence” when talking about beer. For steak lovers, it’s DFH’s answer to the legendary dilemma: “What should we drink when grilling out?” Looking for something both malty and magical? The Indian Brown Ale, a year-round brew, has been described as such and is just the beverage.
Or perhaps add a little seasonal spice into your drink with the DFH Punkin Ale. Named after the famous fall contest, the Ale boasts hints of pumpkin, organic brown sugar and other yummy spices. A choice brew for kings, the Midas Touch, stems from a recipe from the days of old. DFH’s 90 Minute IPA, their first continually-hopped beer, is also said to be included in the tasting.
