Okay, so the Oscars are this Sunday night (7 p.m. on ABC) and of course, you still haven’t seen several of the movies nominated. How will you know which films and performances are truly worthy of statues? Worry no more! Alexandria’s AMC Hoffman Center is coming to your cinematic rescue this weekend with a full day Oscar-nominated movie marathon.
This Saturday, Feb. 23, starting at 10 a.m. (and ending at 10:50 p.m.) AMC Hoffman Center is going to be playing “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” “Life of Pi,” “Lincoln,” “Silver Linings Playbook” and “Zero Dark Thirty,” in that order, all in a row. If you’re thinking: ”Wow, there is no way I can sit still for over 12 hours,” fear not. Breaks of various time lengths will be given after every screening. Also, lanyards will be distributed in case you need to leave the theater and come back. This is also a good solution if you happened to already have seen one of the movies in the lineup— you can leave and come back to catch the rest. Tickets are $40.
