Alexandria’s Walk for Animals
May 1, 9 a.m.-noon
The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria hosts its annual Alexandria’s Walk for Animals in Old Town. Bring your dog and family out to support shelter animals and the shelter’s many community services and programs. // Market Square, Alexandria
Sniffing and Listening
May 1, 2-3 p.m.
Led by a naturalist at the Gulf Branch Nature Center, this free nature hike (dogs welcome, of course) lets you see the world through your pup’s senses. // 3608 N. Military Road, Arlington
Yappy Hour
May 2, 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue hosts its Yappy Hour at the Cantina Marina. All proceeds go to support the shelter animals. // 600 Water St. SW, Washington, DC
Pet Fiesta
May 7, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Pet Fiesta is an annual outdoor event showcasing animal welfare organizations, vendors and entertainment for families and their pets. Doggy Happy Hour
Thursdays, 5-8 p.m.
