Sippin’ on Summer

Rather than join the race to lock down the next “it” mixologist, the Rocklands’ folks are dialing back their drinking habits a few decades.

Their solution: retro-style Southern coolers.

The local barbecue magnate recently rolled out a slate of mason jar cocktails that playfully intertwine now libations (Red Bull, Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka) with the social lubricants of yesteryear (Captain Morgan’s, Mountain Dew).

General manager Brad Yoder helped develop the slate of afternoon erasers, which includes:

* Rocklands Slipper (Jack Daniels, Triple Sec, sour mix, Sprite, cranberry)

* Rebel Yell (Absolute Citron, Red Bull, cranberry)

* Magic Mountain Dew (Absolut Citron, Triple Sec, Mountain Dew)

* Fruit Loop (pomegranate liqueur, Captain Morgan’s, Tuaca, Sprite)

* Melon Twister (French Kiss Vanilla Liqueur, melon liqueur, Sprite)

* Lazy River (vodka, Blue Curacao, pineapple, Sprite)

* Smucker Pucker (Apple Pucker, Southern Comfort, cranberry, Sprite)

* Raspberry Splash (Bacardi Razz, Sprite, cranberry)

Meanwhile, their signature Icy Peach Tea (pictured above) couldn’t be easier to make:

Ingredients
2 ounces Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka
1 ounce Peach Schnapps
Splash of Sprite
Splash of cranberry juice

Preparation
1. Mix everything together and enjoy in mason jar over ice.
2. Garnish with sprig of rosemary.

The drinks all hover around the $6 range and are available at the Arlington Rocklands.

Happy hour, anyone?
