Gourmet pizza fans chomping at the bit to bite into chef Morou Ouattara’s latest dining venture, Kora, should hold their horses.
Due to a series of miscommunications about the actual opening date–Ouattara previewed the home page (which has read “now open for business” since Sunday), email zine Thrillist attempted to scoop the local press with this erroneous plug–Outtara said he’s spent all morning turning away guests who had their hearts set on being the first to sample his Italian fare.
According to Ouattara, the original plan was to open on Monday. But lingering construction woes (Arlington Country still needs to sign off on a few issues, including the still-in-the-works patio) quickly forced them to punt till tomorrow.
As of now, Ouattara suggests the restaurant COULD still open Friday (August 7), Monday (August 10) or Tuesday (August 11).
On the upside, Outtara confirmed that he’ll deliver to surrounding businesses (within a 3-block radius) from day one–a perk that should at least save Crystal Drive denizens from having to retain linestanders through early next week.
