‘Tis the season.
For goodwill toward men. For cherishing loved ones. And, evidently, for gifting epic amounts of ground beef.
For every burger sold this December at any The Burger Joint location owner Mark Bucher has pledged to donate the equivalent in raw meat to the always needy D.C. Central Kitchen.
Which is to say, if all three stores were to move a dozen 9-pound burgers tomorrow, DCCK netsĀ 108 pounds of unadulterated protein.
A DCCK spokesperson made no bones about giving Bucher full credit for the novel “ONEforONE” campaign (DCCK partners with local restaurants on a monthly basis, but usually just takes a percentage of sales). The charity is tentatively set to receive weekly deliveries from BGR and is mulling a final delivery photo op sometime next January.
Meanwhile, Bucher confirmed that there’s no cap on the potential burger donations. He’s also considering stirring up the pot even further with some intra-store contests (show’em whatcha got, King Street!).
