Asian Festival in Reston

Posted by The Editorial Desk / Friday, July 30th, 2010

Thai iced tea?  Chicken Satay?  Sticky Rice?  Mangoes? Lemongrass-rubbed, wrapped in banana leaves lempur? Before I explode into a frenzy of how-much-can-I-eat delight, I’ll make sure to leave you with all the necessary details so that you too can romp and chomp through the Asian cuisines coming soon to a town near you.

The Asian Festival of DC (Due to location, perhaps it should be titled the Asian Festival in Reston) will gather the cuisine of 35 local Asian restaurants into one spot for the weekend.  This spans a whole range of edibles from multiple countries – China, India, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia and more – with a special focus on the Philippines. (Mabuhay!)

Glancing through the catalog of last year’s event pictures provides some idea of a few menu items for the weekend.  *10 points for each dish you can name and a bonus 5 if you can list the ingredients!  For every 25 points, I’ll grant you a free ticket to attend the Festival!

I only recognize two/three of them.

#2. Khanom Krok, a Thai coconut dessert!
#3. Pad Thai
#4. looks like Khanom Thian, sticky rice in banana leaves!

I hope they have the coconut dessert this year! If so, I will be there in a heart beat.
