A Good Morning

Posted by / Monday, December 6th, 2010

The month of December goes by really quickly and is a busy one.  Shopping, cleaning, wrapping gifts, unexpected visitors- all of these things can be piled on top of your normal schedule causing stress and worry.  When unexpected guests come to visit, or your expected guests decide to stay for an extended visit, it can be hard to think of meals that will please everyone.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it’s good to have a few ideas on hand to make preparation go smoothly.  The last thing you want is to burn bacon and have frozen OJ to deal with all before you have even had your morning coffee.

Speaking of coffee, my first bit of advice is to have plenty of coffee on hand.  You will probably need it with a houseful of company and if your guests are used to having coffee and you run out, you could be dealing with a lot of grumpy people.

Another idea that may help everyone start the day smoothly is to have recipes on hand that are easy to make and are a meal on their own.  A large breakfast casserole loaded with eggs, vegetables, cheese, and sausage or bacon will feed many people and Bacon and Eggs in toast cups combine breakfast favorites into a few delicious bites.

If you do burn the bacon or have frozen OJ, don’t worry.  You can just pile in the car and head to Silver Diner for Farm Fresh local eggs, buttermilk pancakes or Belgian waffles served all day long.  Most Silver Diner locations open early and close late.  They also have great coffee and juices, including orange juice which I’m sure won’t be frozen.
