The Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington has announced the 2011 RAMMY Nominees. The RAMMY Awards recognize and award excellence and achievement in the DC Metropolitan restaurant industry. The theme this year is “Carnevale da Cuisine,” and celebrates the international and multi-cultural carnevale of cuisine in the DC area.
Two separate panels of judges and the public selected the nominees. The Joan Hisaoka Associate Member of the Year nominees were selected by the RAMW Executive Committee. Any RAMW member was eligible for nomination as long as they qualified for the given category.(Although these restaurants may be nominated, there are many fine restaurants that cannot be nominated because they are not members of RAMW.) The nominees were then reviewed by an anonymous panel of renowned food/restaurant writers, educators and professionals who selected the five finalists in each of the categories.
The public will decide the winners for the Voter’s Favorite Restaurant, Neighborhood Gathering Place, Hottest Restaurant Bar Scene and Power Spot of the Year awards. Votes can be made through a special ballot in the Washington City Paper on April 28 or online.
The winners will be announced at the RAMMY gala on June 26th, 2011 at the Marriot Wardman Park Hotel in DC. Tickets to the gala may be purchased by calling 202-331-5990 or email rammys@ramw.org.
