D.C.’s big beer bash Savor is this week, but that doesn’t mean that you need to be in the District to enjoy the festivities. Falls Church’s own brewery and pub Mad Fox Brewing has a week of special events to commemorate Savor planned, and it’s a great opportunity to try out some exclusive Mad Fox brews. Even though a couple of Mad Fox’s events sold out quickly, including their participation in the pre-Savor party at RFD and Savor itself, there are still several parties to be had for latecomers:
Tuesday, May 31: Barrel 100 Unveiling.
Mad Fox’s brewers, Bill Madden and Charlie Buettner, unveil their 100th batch of beer: Barrel 100, which they describe as a cross between a Black IPA and a Russian Imperial Stout. Aged in 12 year old bourbon barrels, the beer’s numbers are straight 100s: “100 specific gravity points, 100 IBUs, 100% Centennial hops and 10.0% ABV.”
Wednesday-Thursday, June 1-2, 3 p.m.: Oaked Slobberknocker American Barleywine Tapping.
Break out the growlers for this one, as the pub will be doling out their new Barleywine for $16. For those who lack the convenience of a giant take-away glass bottle, the bar will also offer up samples and serve by the snifter as well.
Tuesday, June 7, 3 p.m.: Molotov Hoptail Imperial IPA Tapping
Mad Fox keeps going strong even after Savor with a return of its popular Molotov Hoptail. Perfect for those who only want to taste hops for the next week or so, this hoppy beer is a stealth release, so get it while you can.
