New Orleans will host it’s first Super Bowl at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome since the devastation of Katrina. On February 3rd, Louisiana will prove they haven’t skipped a beat since the hurricane hit. Local restaurants will be celebrating the Big Game in the Big Easy with your typical football specials, and some surprising Cajun dishes, raffles and pints of beer under $10. Here are seven of our Super Bowl hot spot suggestions:
Fire Works Pizza will be hosting a party with a Cajun flair, with New Orleans favorites like gumbo, jambalaya, shrimp po’boys and everyone’s favorite, beignets, for a sweet treat. A prize pool will be free to the first 100 guests and customers could win up to $100 in Fire Works gift cards for picking the right square. There will be a total of $300 total in prizes. With the option of beer, wine, Todd Thrasher‘s artisan cocktail mixes, chips, Maryland blue crab dip and house-made sausages a la carte. Ther’s also the all inclusive “The Big Game,” ($175 and serves 8-10 people) which includes fried chicken, pulled pork BBQ and rolls, house-made all natural hot dogs and buns and hot Texas chili. Come in on Superbowl Sunday at Old Town’s gastropub, Virtue Feed and Grain. Watch the game on the big screen while enjoying Chef Ryan Wheeler‘s classic appetizers like fried calamari, chili cheese dogs, Cuban sandwich and classic buffalo wings, paired with buckets (yes, buckets) of beer. Wheeler will pay special attention to the hometown of the two dueling teams, with his versions of local classics from both. In honor of the San Francisco Giants, he is offering the Hangtown fry, an omelette with oysters and bacon. Super Spicy Super Bowl Sunday
With sibling revelry on the sidelines, native New Orleanian chef David Guas and his team plan on rising to the occasion by adding another layer of competition on Super Bowl Sunday. Bayou Bakery will host the first-ever “Holy Hell” Hot Sauce Super Challenge. Chef Guas is daring guests to down an entire plate of his seriously spicy Crawfish Tamales. Winners will win both super-sweaty pride and a bronze trophy in the form of a beer-filled pitcher.
