As the real spring weather approaches, the warmer temperatures brings with it a flurry of farmers markets opening in the coming weeks. We’ve done some research to highlight some of the new additions to markets in our area. Be sure to check our Northern Virginia Farmers Market Guide to find one near you.
Del Ray Farmers Market
Along with multiple vendors selling seasonal produce, the year round market will welcome Fluffed Up Desserts this spring and will offer a variety of marshmallow-based desserts. The Del Ray market will also feature baked goods from Together We Bake, a workforce training program for women.
Falls Church Farmers Market
Running April through September, the market will feature a monthly chef series. The D.C.-area chefs will showcase recipes using local ingredients Be sure to check out Willow chef Tracy O’Grady on April 20th, and Pizzeria Orso executive chef Will Artley on May 18.
Rosslyn Farmers Market
Opening on May 23, this years market will include French-West African hot sauces from Oh Mercy Hotsauce. Penn Farm will also join the market this year, bringing fruits and vegetables from its Colonial Beach farm.
Four Mile Run Farmers and Artisan Market
After receiving an anonymous donation, Four Mile Run Market was able to build a new performance stage to add live entertainment. Shoppers can catch a show and browse the dozens of vendors offering fresh local products.
