After issues battling over signage and unapproved changes to the building, Vivify Burger & Lounge opened yesterday. The burger-fry-shake operation is from Blake and Aby Bethem, who also own the farm-to-table restaurant Bistro Bethem in downtown Fredericksburg. / 314 William St., Fredericksburg

BadWolf Brewing Company is throwing an Oktoberfest party with beers, raffles, barbecue and ice cream this Sunday. / 9776 Center St., Manassas

This Saturday at La Cuisine meet Alexandria author Domenica Marchetti as she sells and signs her new book “The Glorious Vegetables of Italy.” / Sample dishes; 20 percent discount; 323 Cameron Street, Alexandria
