Shirlington’s Korean void—left by Bonsai Grill’s closure this May—is now filled by DAK Chicken. DAK opens tonight.

Drawn to the town center’s many events and festivals, owner Joohyun Gil  found the culture ideal for his first restaurant. Chef Jae Kim’s (formerly of Annandale’s Palace Restaurant) menu features twice-fried chicken wings and strips with soy garlic, spicy soy garlic and honey glazed sauces. There will also be Korean and Asian-fusion dishes like a kimchi and seafood pancake, bulgogi with rice, ramen and soju-based cocktails.

Gil has designed the space with leather furniture and a red and black interior; he says he’s “going for luxury.” There’s outside seating, too, plus K-pop videos, naturally./ Opening today at 5 p.m.: DAK Chicken, 4040 Campbell Ave., Arlington.
