Fall for Fitness

It’s that time of year when the weather starts to get a little cooler. The kids are heading back to school. The leaves will start to change colors and before we know it, the holidays are here! It’s the perfect time of year to fall back into fitness.

Did you take the summer off from your regular fitness routine? Did you make the statement that you didn’t need regular strength training because you were more active in the summer? Did you really run three times a week?

Unfortunately, most of us didn’t keep up with that running schedule and probably skipped a few trips to the gym as well. Couple that with one too many summertime barbeques and now there may even be a few extra pounds around the waistline that weren’t there in May!

Have no fear. The kids are back in school and it’s time for you to get back on track. Don’t look back; look forward. This is the time for change.

If you are feeling sluggish, start with something manageable—even just a walk with family or friends can jumpstart that engine again and remind you how good it really is to pump air into your lungs and work those muscles! Try a few pushups and sit ups. Before you know it, you’ll be psyched for that daily 45-minute workout!

You had fun this summer, and that’s great. Don’t obsess over how you lost a little ground. Make a plan and stick to it. You can do it!
