Perfectly Presentable Presents for Less

Posted by The Editorial Desk / Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

Good morning, shoppers! Here’s hoping your Tuesday is off to a great start. As for me, I feel like a new person thanks to enjoying a full night’s rest. And, having decorated our abode last night and placed the order for our photo cards, well, I couldn’t be more psyched for Christmas — now only 23 days away! As for those of you who may not be in the holiday spirit yet, regardless of the holidays you celebrate, I hope I can help.

While I wish I could make any worries you have melt away, or personally greet each of you with some aromatic cranberry tea, a comforting Gingersnap Latte or perhaps some festive cookies (can’t wait to try my hand at Martha Stewart’s key lime thumbprints), I’m afraid I can’t. What I can do, however, is point you to some bargains. After all, unless you’re a true Grinch, it’s better to give than to receive. And giving doesn’t have to break the bank.

Speaking of giving, to give you a little proof, here are several gifts I find to be fabulous yet friendly to the frugal:

For anyone who loves nothing more than to sink into their couch or favorite chair on a cold winter day: a chunky hand-knit throw from Pottery Barn (now $89, was $129), comes in almond, chocolate truffle, neutral and ruby red.

For the modern entertainer: this eight-cup punch set from Crate and Barrel ($36.95).

For the romantic: this spiral candle holder from Kosmos Designs and Ideas in Alexandria ($26) or their half moon candle holder ($24).

For the fashionista: a stylish scarf by Love Quotes in a go-to hue from Cusp ($88).

For the devoted soccer mom or dad, or true tailgater: the ultimate stadium seat from Frontgate ($99.50).

For the health-conscious cook: the Breville HealthSmart Steamer at Sur la table ($79.95, was $99.95).

For the at-home gourmet chef or creme brulee devotee: a chef’s torch, also from Sur la table ($40).

For the fashionable fella who loves to collect cool watches: the casual Diesel watch (pictured above) from South Moon Under ($80).

For the die-hard ‘Skins (male) fan in your fam: these Redskins silver-plated cufflinks, also from South Moon Under ($55).

And, last but not least …

For the trendy toddler: these baby UGGs at Saks Fifth Avenue ($50).
