A Huge Fashion Dilemma: Solved!

Friday, December 5th, 2008

Hello, fashionistas and sartorially inclined fellas (looking for great gifts)! I have some BIG news for you today! As Vivian in “Pretty Woman” said, “Big. Huge. I have to go shopping now.”

Thanks to two Arlington bartenders/fashionistas Lisa Church and Jennifer Crittenden, now when it comes to buying beautiful tall boots, a sky-high price tag should be the only thing stopping you from buying your perfect pair. That’s because the savvy co-owners of C3 Enterprises have invented a tool that solves one of the biggest fashion dilemmas — a two-fold problem, actually — that we face each winter.

Let’s face it; we all love the streamlined look of jeans tucked into boots, but that doesn’t mean the look is easy to pull off, though.

First, there’s the issue of tucking our jeans into our boots in the first place. As Church remarked, “Even if the boots fit in the foot, I found so many cute pairs I couldn’t buy because I couldn’t fix my jeans inside them.”

Then there’s the second side of the problem with the tall boot tuck. As Crittenden will tell you, “Never mind keeping your jeans in place inside your boots — every time you stand up, your jeans are all bunched around your knees,” a troubling fashion condition she calls the “mushroom top” effect.

Apparently not the type to give up easily, the duo searched for solutions. Crittenden tried chopsticks: no dice. She placed rubber bands around her ankles: too uncomfortable. She also tried tucking her jeans into her socks: didn’t prevent the mushroom top.

Meanwhile, Church, an equestrian in her childhood, turned to jodhpur clips, but they weren’t attractive or comfortable enough.

Before long,  the two came up with the idea for Stiruppz, a supportive stirrup that attaches to jeans with four clips instead of the jodhpur’s two. As Church describes them, “They’re supportive, but you can’t even tell you’re wearing them — even with skinny riding boots.”

The best part: They are now available to us all at stiruppz.com for only $21! What a great gift idea!

to prevent the mushroom top – you wear skinny jeans.

Well, before Stiruppz, I even had problems with skinny jeans.

Stiruppz are a Godsend! Even skinny jeans were bunching up around my tall boots after I sat or moved around. I used to have clips very similar to these in the 80’s but lost them – Thank you Lisa and Jennifer!
