Let’s face it; pretty much every fashionable new or expecting mom in our area — not to mention family and friends — knows Alexandria’s Apple Seed as the Old Town boutique to head to for all things maternity or baby. What everyone didn’t know, perhaps, was the fact that the store doesn’t only have a magnificent inventory; it also has a big heart.
You see, Apple Seed has begun partnering with Mary’s Center for Maternal and Child Care on a very special charity program. For those of you who are not already familiar with Mary’s Center, it provides affordable, culturally competent, personalized programs in pre-natal and parental care to area residents with immigrant populations. Here’s the deal: For each used maternity or baby item a shopper brings in to Apple Seed (some restrictions apply; see below) to be donated to Mary’s Center, the store will award one Apple Seed dollar to be put toward a future purchase. This is Apple Seed’s way to say thanks for making the tax-deductible donation. Talk about a win-win!
Please just note the following:
-All items must be cleaned prior to donating.
-Undergarments including nursing items, underwear, bras, tanks, Bella Bands, and garments with stains, rips, holes or with missing buttons, will not be accepted.
-All donated garments will be examined and are subject to review by Apple Seed employees before donations are accepted.
If you have questions, please call 703-535-5446.
Ps. On an unrelated but also exciting note, don’t miss this awesome online trunk show (thanks, Warren)!
