Hi there, shoppers! Isn’t gorgeous weather on a Friday an almost unbeatable combination?! I must admit, though, for those of us working today instead of being on Easter break, it’s also incredibly distracting. Then, add to that mega-anticipation of tomorrow’s iPad release!
Want to plan your big pick-up or purchase tomorrow? Check out this NBC Washington article with hours for area Apple stores on Saturday and Sunday. Also, I just called the Reston store; it’ll be open an hour early tomorrow, at 9 a.m., for iPad shoppers as well. Sunday, the Reston store opens at noon.
Most local Best Buy stores are also carrying iPads (the Tysons store, for instance, opening at 10 a.m.), so there’s another option if the Apple line is too big for you. Of course, you could also order your shiny new toy from Apple’s online store, but you won’t receive your iPad until April 12 or later. Just note that only Apple brick-and-mortar stores are promising to offer tutorials on e-mail set-up and purchasing apps if you don’t like winging it on your own or despise reading manuals. (I, for one, fall into both categories.)
Completely unrelated, because that’s how we seem to do it on Fridays, I just learned of an Easter sale that moms with little girls should certainly check out. Maiden America, manufacturer of unbelievably adorable, stay-in-place barrettes for even the finest of hair, is offering special savings in honor of the holiday through next Friday! As some of you who have been reading S.W.A.G. for quite a while may recall, I purchased Maiden America barrettes for my twin nieces to wear on my wedding day (they served as my gorgeous flower girls), and these beauties stayed in their silky soft flowing hair through a full night of dancing!
And, finally, some sad news … the folks at Alexandria’s Kosmos Designs announced this week that the store will be closing April 10, after seven years in business. If you’re a fan of Kosmos’ unique, eco-friendly furniture and home accessories, stop in before it’s too late, and you’ll save up to 75 percent on accessories, up to 60 percent on furniture.
May you all have a safe, wonderful holiday weekend!

Apple doesnt just produce gismos; they engineer resolutions that people can see fitting into their lives finally. As a university student with a hectic life, I can see this being a very usable thing to own.
