Good morning, shoppers! What a stormy year! Perhaps this post should be about umbrellas, tarps and generators. Then again, I figured it may be time for a fun diversion. So let’s talk weekend plans.

While this Saturday we’re all invited to enjoy the bountiful bargains at the Alexandria Summer Sidewalk Sale, next Saturday, Aug. 21, should be a great shopping day, too. That’s especially true for those of us who find delight in shopping for little ones. The fabulous children’s store Dharma & Leopold’s, formerly of Warrenton, will be celebrating their grand opening in Gainesville (7945 Stonewall Shops Square), from noon to 5 p.m.

What’s in store for the in-house soiree: refreshments, prize giveaways, raffles every 30 minutes, story time and games with Princess Genevieve from 1-3 p.m., and face-painting fun with Norma Hix.

Not to mention, the store has been receiving new merchandise every day, so there will be plenty of gorgeous designs to peruse from Biscotti, Eland Kids, Lemon Loves Lime and Kissy Kissy to name a few. Plus, for the little guys, the store is expecting new Dino gear — lunch boxes, hats and backpacks.

Also exciting, I’m told there is still some great summer clothing on sale at the store, too.

Ps. Don’t forget that today is the last day to score a voucher for 40 percent off at Sea Pearl. Pretty tempting, right?!
