News for Brides and Halloween Lovers

Posted by The Editorial Desk / Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

Hello, shoppers! Although weddings and Halloween don’t normally go very well together, that’s what this Sales & News post is all about.

Let’s get to the brides first.

The Warrenton bridal boutique A Formal Affair will host an exclusive trunk show featuring the Wtoo Fall 2011 collection on Oct. 21-23. The Wtoo line has won multiple awards, been featured in various celebrity weddings and is known to be stylish yet affordable. Designers and bridal fashion experts will give advice at the trunk show, and the event will also display more wedding gowns in the boutique than it normally has. Definitely an event not to be missed! To make an appointment, call 540-347-5126.

Also in wedding news: While Anthropologie launched its wedding site BHLDN back in February and no real sales are happening right now, we couldn’t help but throw a little extra love over to the site for its  new arrivals, like this gorgeous clutch! Just one example of the site’s wide selection of  to-die-for items.

As for Halloween …  and speaking of getting all dressed up, Alexandria’s Pink & Brown is having their third annual Halloween Costume Contest! The child with the best costume wins a $100 Pink & Brown gift card. Pictures will be taken on Oct. 17-31 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and will be posted throughout the store so shoppers can vote. Voting will take place Nov. 3-13, and the winner is to be announced Nov. 16.

And in other Halloween news … Still looking for a Halloween costume? Don’t overlook B-thrifty, Woodbridge’s new mega-thrift store, which carries tons of clothing perfect for being crafted into costumes for kids and adults. Plus, for giving the store an old costume, you’ll score a $5 credit and a free children’s toy.

B-thrifty is also hosting a couple of special events during this spooky season:

—-On all Saturdays and Sundays from Oct. 15-29, from 1-3 p.m., all kids can receive a free pumpkin and snacks.

—-On Oct. 30 bring the kids for trick-or-treating and a costume contest. Trick-or-treating is from noon to 3 p.m., and prizes are awarded at 1, 2 and 3 p.m.

—-On Oct. 31 from 3-7 p.m. the store will host a Halloween party with games, food, prizes and goody bags.

Finally, why should your kids have all of the holiday fun? The Old Town Boutique District is hosting their Third Annual Trick-or-Treating event on Oct. 29, when kids and parents alike are invited to enjoy tricks and treats from the 30 participating boutiques. Posters will be displayed in participating stores designating them as trick-or-treat friendly. The event will be held during the boutiques’ normal hours.

Happy shopping!
