Sure Things: Conair Candy Stick Jelly Rollers

Hello, shoppers!

Think back, just for a moment, to the days of soda cans and curler clips – and that old saying, beauty is pain. The good news is hot curlers have taken a turn towards quick and simple, making it easier than ever to make a switch from the flat iron style.

Conair’s Candy Stick Jelly Rollers, sold at Target for just $21, have one-upped the game with their unconventional jelly curlers. The stick-straight rollers, with a loop on one end, reach up to 390 degrees in their pink base in just five minutes. Each of the 21 rollers wraps up strands of hair and connects at the ends through the loop.

It’s not what we’re used to in the hot roller department, so it does take a little while to perfect the process. The jelly rollers, when rolled just right, can stay in longer for Shirley Temple spiral curls. Or, if you’re looking for more subtle, loose curls, pull the rollers after 10 minutes or so.

They’re hot. And the ceramic rollers will burn your fingers, or ears — nothing tragic, but a little heat –  if you don’t roll the strands of hair just right. But if each strand is wrapped around each jelly roller, you’ll easily avoid any problems.

Each roller starts off pink and turns white when they’re heated and ready to use, further safeguarding against little burns and adding a gauge for the perfect curl. Leave the rollers in your hair until they turn white, run hairspray over the spirals and shake it all up for the most fabulous of curls!

Happy shopping — and styling!
