Quick fixes before the close of selling season
By Caroline Hailey

Lucy Murad, a real estate agent with Reston’s Long & Foster, says increasing a home’s selling appeal doesn’t have to cost a fortune.
- Start by replacing old light fixtures, faucets and doorknobs.
- Clear off countertops to make the kitchen and bathrooms look larger.
- Take down excessive family photographs so buyers can imagine themselves in your home.
- Make the bathrooms and bedrooms smell fresh and sweet, and add new linens and towels.
- And don’t forget to go to other open houses to see what works and what doesn’t.
