Sun Design Remodeling grabs award

Sun Design Remodeling Specialists in Burke took home a Contractor of the Year (COTY) award for its recent renovation of a circa-1950s ranch house in Fairfax County’s Lake Barcroft community. The project, which took four months and nearly $255,000 to complete, was named “best residential interior, $250,000 to $500,000,” in the Washington area as part of the National Associations of the Remodeling Industry’s (NARI) yearly competition. Designer Katherine MacNeil says the focus of the remodeling was to transform the kitchen and living room, originally separated by a wall, into one main socializing area. “It was custom in the 1950s to hide the kitchen,” MacNeil says. “But by tearing down the wall and opening the area up, we gave the owners the space they had been envisioning for years.”
