Family Weekend Project: Salt Dough for Refrigerator Magnets

Are you looking for a fun way to entertain the kids and create something useful? Salt dough can be molded into any creative refrigerator magnet. These magnets are great for hanging up school projects and pictures. Collect ribbons, buttons and a variety of paint colors and get started.

What you need:
1/4 cup salt
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup water
Cookie cutters (optional)

Step 1: Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Add together the salt, flour and water. If your mix is to wet or sticky, add flour as needed. Make sure your mix isn’t too dry because it will crack when backed.

Step 2: Roll mix with a rolling pin on wax paper, about ½ inch thick. Use cookie cutters to form a variety of shapes.

Step 3: Bake for 2 ½ hours or until dry.

Step 4: Decorate your shapes with paint, glitter, beads, etc. Glue magnet on the back of each object.

Step 5: Spray with acrylic sealer spray.
