Three Ways to Shop and Support Sandy Survivors

Posted by Natalie Kaar / Thursday, November 8th, 2012

It’s been nearly two weeks since Hurricane Sandy swept through the Northeast, leaving destruction and devastation behind for hundreds of miles and millions of people. If you’ve already sent a donation to the ravaged region but would still like to do more, we’ve come across three easy ways to shop for the cause.

    1. Equinox gym and spa at Tysons Corner, joining other Equinox locations in D.C. and New York, is selling Hurricane Sandy T-shirts that say “Strength” for $35 with 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting the American Red Cross.

    2. Bloomingdale’s is launching an Every Bottle Counts Campaign, and donating 250,000 bottles of water to Sandy victims. The hope is that with shoppers’ donations, Bloomie’s can make that 500,000 bottles. Donate in stores or online today through Nov. 30.

    3. Dormify, a mecca of teen and young adult décor, is kicking off a charitable initiative by donating 50 sheet sets to Covenant House, a youth homeless shelter with 22 locations in the Tri State Area, three of which were severely affected by Hurricane Sandy.  In addition to this, Dormify will continue to donate one sheet set to Covenant House (or the individual of your choice) with any purchase on Dormify.com, capping the donation off at 100 orders.

    Happy shopping for a cause!
