Old Town Alexandria hosts all sorts of fun happenings throughout the year that make it a wonderful place to spend the weekend. Yet, in the holiday season, it really brings the bounty. Along with the Scottish Walk this Friday through Saturday, Nov. 30-Dec. 1, and the Boat Parade of Lights on Saturday evening, The Christmas Attic‘s Second Annual Advent Calendar Celebration returns.
Saturday at sundown (4:30 p.m.), and each night through Dec. 24, The Christmas Attic, which has partnered with various schools, churches and other area organizations, will illuminate new advent art on its front brick facade or in its windows facing Union Street. Each night the beloved boutique will also welcome all sorts of holiday entertainment and festivities including a visit from Santa!
The best part of the program is that it not only delights shoppers and strollers nightly but it benefits Make-A-Wish of the Mid-Atlantic. After Christmas, the canvases of advent artwork will be auctioned off at an event (to be scheduled) in support of Make-A-Wish, which grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
