Just as catch-up time is required at holiday celebrations when it comes to finding out everything that’s been happening in the lives of those who you love, the holiday shopping season calls for a little catch-up in regard to retail news on blogs. There’s so much to cover, it can be difficult, if not impossible, to fit it all. But try we do.
Shoppers, your retail round-up:
After four years of teaching at LA’s renowned Sassoon Academy, client- and colleague-adored stylist Allison Lyle, whom you may recall us featuring in our 2006 Top Salons issue, has returned to Tysons Galleria’s Sassoon Salon as creative director.
Read up on Lifeline skincare in our Sure Things column recently and are now hooked on the magical anti-aging products? One thing about the Lifeline bottle is that you can’t tell when you’re almost out of the stuff (the reason why someone’s mom places an online order before she’s out, to avoid having to go a day with out it). Good news about a new local hook-up; Bellini in Vienna now sells the line.
Other assorted shopping sweets:
Is your little girl completely enamored with everything American Girl? Judging by the huge crowds at the Tysons store and my nieces’ wish lists, she’s in very good company. Want to check off a few holiday buys sans the mayhem? Dharma & Leopold’s in Gainesville is having an American Girl shopping event this Saturday, Dec. 1, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Shop furniture, holiday outfits, sporting outfits, boots, girl-and-doll matching outfits and more. The store will also offer door prizes, including a month of free dance lessons at Gainesville’s Tiny Dancer.
Wish your holiday spending could benefit more than just your gift recipients? Sunday, stop by the Moms of Oakton Design House at 3502 Birdsboro Drive in Fairfax. Four local designers and 10 local vendors (The Nest Egg, The Dandelion Patch, Paperworks, Rave Cake Design, Burp in Style, Toy Corner and more) are selling unique products and services, and raffling off their wares for charity. One hundred percent of the proceeds will provide meals and gift cards for needy local families.
And, finally, if you have some bling on your list, here’s a heads-up for the hubs. Midtown Jewelers in Reston is hosting an Alberto Parada trunk show tomorrow, Nov. 29, through Friday, Nov. 30, and offering huge savings on the celeb-loved collection from the local but internationally adored designer through Saturday, Dec. 1. Get $250 off Alberto Parada purchases of $750 or more.
