With Halloween just a few short weeks away, time is running out for those still on the fence on what to dress as this year. If you have yet to decided on the perfect spooky getup, check out these makeup tutorials for some ghoulish or glamorous ideas.
The Lana Del Rey
Why not become a famous singer for Halloween? Del Ray’s signature style, similar to that of ’60s icons Twiggy and Edie Sedgewick, can be spotted easily. Even if you can’ t charm a room with clever lyrics and a haunting beautiful voice – at least you can attempt to look like her. Complete the look: Curly brown locks, a Budweiser T-shirt and an American flag.
The Sugar Skull
One of my personal favorites that I went as last year using Lo Bosworth’s tutorial, and trust me when I say it is not as hard as you think. This costume is all about the makeup, which can seem challenging. Perhaps the most complicated of the bunch – but it pays off with a lot of compliments. Complete the look: All black clothing, a flower crown and a good scary stare.
The Flapper
Before “been there, done that” is said, think about Daisy Buchanan from The Great Gatsby. Tragic ending for her, but glamorous as they come. For those that are a big fan of the red lip, this one is for you. Check out the best of the best for costume makeup, Michelle Phan’s quirky video on how to achieve the look of the roaring ’20s. Complete the look: a beaded dress, all faux diamond and pearls one can find and a embellished headpiece.
The Maleficent
Most may want to be a princess, but what about a villainess? Maleficent has been forging a comeback this year, making her the ultimate costume for a fictional character loving fashionistas. Don’t worry about looking creepy, it is the one night of the year to get away with a scary ensemble. Complete the look: a horned crown, black cape, a good shade of red lipstick and, for those feeling ambitious, some colored contacts.
