Style Report: Polka Dots

Posted by Natalie Kaar / Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

Hello there, shoppers! While some fall trends may be tricky for many to embrace — not expecting to see a lot of leather skirts being strutted around NoVA — others are bound to be almost universally embraced. An example of the latter: polka dots.

The main reason: Wearing them almost always means accessorizing with a mega-watt smile (models excluded).

A few cases in point polka:

Adorable, a great transition piece, and only $15.80 (Forever 21)

Bailey 44 'Turn into French' Blouse, splurge-worthy at $209 (Nordstrom)

'Rust Up' Dress, so fun and would look great with a cardi when it gets cool, $47.99 (ModCloth)

Jaquard Dress, absolutely adorable pint-size pretty for $49.95 (babyGap)

And these examples are only the beginning!

Happy shopping!

Hi there, shoppers! Here’s hoping you all had a terrific weekend. It sure feels good to get out and about again, doesn’t it?

I have to say, though, personally, I don’t know which I enjoyed more this weekend: getting out of the house and helping the local economy a little or sitting inside exploring the March issue of Harper’s Bazaar! Each winter, I get incredibly anxious to wear the new spring fashions. I’m especially digging this year’s natural-hued shoes trend! Nothing makes a girl’s legs look better, and they go with practically everything!

Of course, this particular girl also loves to bag a bargain, and today is certainly a fantastic day to do so.

Similarly inclined? First of all, today at noon, Narciso Rodriguez is to debut his first-ever capsule collection on eBay, featuring eight spring styles ranging in price from $60 to $350.

Also, Gap, which debuted its 1969 premium denim line for babies (adorable and super soft) last week, is offering a 15-percent discount today with the code “GAPLOVE.”

Speaking of little ones, the Arlington kids’ shop Ann-Kate’s Closet is offering free priority shipping on online orders with the code “ItsFree10.”

You’ll also find deals in Tysons Galleria. James Clothiers is doling out 50- to 60-percent discounts on their entire winter collection, and Nicole Miller is offering shoppers 20-percent savings on bridesmaid dresses today through Feb. 22.

You can even save a little extra at endless.com on this happy holiday — 45 percent on a wide range of winter styles.

And, finally, fellas, if you’ve wondered what it’s like to walk in Reggie Bush’s shoes, you could actually find out and help Haiti in the process!

Happy shopping!

McCartney-designed Clothes Coming Soon to BabyGap & GapKids

Posted by The Editorial Desk / Monday, October 26th, 2009

Good morning, shoppers. Here’s hoping you all had a terrific weekend. Did any of you meet Mr. Louboutin?!

Speaking of fabulous designers, according to WWD.com, on Nov. 2 select BabyGap and GapKids stores will begin selling children’s apparel designed by none other than Stella McCartney. The 70-piece line, much like her ready-to-wear collections yet designed with kiddos in mind, even includes shoes (leather-free, of course).

McCartney, a mom herself, says, “For years now I’ve wanted to create a collection for kids, it’s something I’ve often been asked about. … I believe that kids clothing should be more accessibly priced, which is particularly important at the moment given the current climate. It’s really exciting for us to do a boys and girls collection for the first time.”

According to WWD, prices for individual items in the collection range from $14 (for wool tights) to $128 (for a military jacket).

Wow, just in time for the holidays! Great news not only for Moms but also for super-cool aunts and grandmothers! I’m loving the jackets!

Here are some photos. What do you think? Agree?

Fashionable & Fun Baby Feeding Finds

Posted by The Editorial Desk / Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Stokke Tripp Trapp highchair (babygap.com)Good morning, shoppers! You know that feeling when you spot new inventory in a store or on a website that practically makes you scream with glee? This happened to me yesterday when I got an email from babyGap.com highlighting new items in their feeding dept. And, given that I don’t have any children of my own and am not expecting right now, I figured the news of these discoveries just had to be shared.

After all, if the oh-so-fashionable collection can make an aunt go crazy with excitement, I can only imagine how appealing the items will be to any new or expecting moms among us!

First of all, how stylish is that highchair pictured? Seriously! The best part: The beauty also has brains.  It can be adjusted to fit your child from the time he or she is a baby until they’re an adult. Click on the link above to see how. And, that’s only the beginning of babygap.com’s fabulous feeding options. …

How adorable is this dishware?

How about these anything-but-boring bibs?

It looks like even burping time can be fashionable.
