Miley Cyrus & Max Azria (Wal-Mart)
Let’s face it, even us iPhone- and BlackBerry-toting individuals can have trouble keeping up with all of the latest, hottest shopping news … especially during the sweet, sweet summertime! (Trust me, I know. I’m in sunny South Carolina as you read this.) So, below is my unofficial version of Cliffs Notes, to help catch you up to speed on all sorts of random retail goodness.
Okay, what to know now:
1.) Being born an identical twin of Megan Fox just wasn’t in the cards for us (boy, that would have made my hubby happy); yet, according to StoreAdore, at least we can wear the same jewelry.
2.) Miley Cyrus fans have a whole new reason to squeal with delight. The pop star has teamed up with Max Azria to create a fashion line for Wal-Mart. The items, each to cost under $20, are to hit stores in early August.
3.) The Renaissance Mayflower Hotel is the place to be on the evening of June 23, as CityShopGirl will be hosting a bash from 6 to 8 p.m., to include complimentary makeup application, hair styling, massage and more from area beauty experts! Loyal followers, RSVP to rsvp@cityshopgirl.com by June 20 to snag a spot at the soiree.
4.) For those of you who don’t want to buy Dad just any old tie: How about a tie that can hold (hide) his iPod? *Reminder: Stay tuned for lots of other cool gift ideas for your fantastic father from Susan Anspach next Friday.
5.) Would you like the opportunity to brag about the person who you believe has made the greatest impact in NoVA? If so, you could earn recognition and win a $50 gift card to either the Fair Oaks Mall or The Dandelion Patch for you both!
6.) And, in case you ever find yourself feeling sorry for Ryan Seacrest because of his incredibly hectic schedule, you should just think of this video. Turns out he gets to keep all of the posh suits he dons on American Idol. No surprise, actually, as they’re custom made.
Okay, I know I missed some good stuff. Please feel free to comment and leave other shopping nuggets for your fellow shoppers! And, please stay tuned for guest hosts to keep you entertained and informed throughout the rest of the week!
Bye for now.

Sales to Help You Swallow Tax Day
Posted by The Editorial Desk / Wednesday, April 15th, 2009
Good morning, shoppers! As you’re well aware, today is Tax Day. Whether you’re among the refund-receiving set or the sad-to-be-sending-it-to-Uncle-Sam set, I say you deserve a little something for filing on time. So, here’s a little heads-up on some super sales that could act as much more than a little pat on the back.
If you don’t mind heading into the District on a weekday:
Point those stilettos to Wink (3109 M St. NW) and “Strut Into Spring.” Fashion writer Makeda Saggau-Sackey & TV personality Paul Wharton will be on hand to help the fab boutique celebrate its fifth anniversary with a fashion show, some bubbly and treats, and a special 2o percent discount on in-store purchases! Drop by between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.
If you prefer to stay on the suburban side of things:
The Limited could provide just the type of sales support you seek; through Sunday, April 26th, in stores and online, receive $30 off a $100 purchase or $20 off a $60 purchase.
Plus, serenity is right around the corner thanks to this week being Spa Week – nice timing, right? If wanting to get on the soothing spa action, click here to register at spaweek.com and see which businesses are participating in Virginia — there are nearly 30! (Speaking of spas, I can’t stop thinking about all of the soothing, absolutely glorious scents I sniffed at Vienna’s fantastic Valerianne yesterday, not to mention the softest towels I’ve ever touched — bamboo — for creating a spa-like atmosphere at home. More on that remarkable store later.)
Then again, if you prefer to keep it to the PC or laptop:
Don’t miss the last day to receive 20 percent off with code “CityShopGirl” at shoptheshoebox.com, fabulous new web partner to National Jean Company and home to shoes from a bevy of fantastic designers including Kate Spade, DVF and Marc Jacobs! Thanks again, cityshopgirl.com!
Of course, if you’re a Stuart Weitzman fan, you’ll also want to click here to save up to 65 percent on SW shoes at zappos.com!
Clubbebe members will also want to point their browser to bebe.com where they’ll receive 20 percent off all sale items today through Monday, April 20, with code “TAXBREAK” at checkout.
For those last-minute filers who find themselves particularly stressed, perhaps a little Bath & Body Works Stress Relief Aromatherapy could help cool those jets. And, good news: today only, aromatherapy items are just $8 at bathandbodyworks.com.
Some Tumbling Prices for Your Tuesday
Posted by The Editorial Desk / Tuesday, March 31st, 2009
Good morning, shoppers! Just in case this season is as crazy busy for you as it is for me, I thought I’d help warm your heart with some sizzling hot sales! After all, we all know that purchases really can have power. And, well, things like winning/losing the office basketball pool beg for a little retail celebration or therapy!
So, here it goes:
Wild about Milly’s contemporary looks? Spend $250 or more at Saks.com and enter the code MILLY9 to receive a special Milly necklace. Make that a $450 or greater purchase and enter the same code, and you’ll receive the necklace plus a $50 gift card!
If the oh-so-cool looks at Cusp are what make you purr, make sure to check out their sale racks and online sale page at cusp.com to receive an extra 25 percent off already reduced merchandise — including a floral Joie shirt that I bought for full price about a month ago. (Here’s hoping my hubby skips reading SWAG today.)
Have your eyes set on some new shoes? Visit the fabulous new shopping site shoptheshoebox.com, sister company to National Jean Company and home to a bevy of brilliant shoe brands, and enter the code CityShopGirl to receive 20 percent off any purchase through April 15. By the way, if you are not a CityShopGirl subscriber yet, why the wait? Amazing offers from all over the DC area (from shops, spas and restaurants) delivered to your inbox … what’s not to like? Also, time is running out to save 20 percent on shoes and other items at Lord & Taylor during their big Signature Sale!
Speaking of Lord & Taylor, you can save 25 percent on Calvin Klein underwear there through next Wednesday, April 8th!
And, finally, in Alexandria, save 30 percent on all merchandise at Periwinkle through Sunday, April 5th!
Ps. Also check out my latest obsession: luxeclubone.com. It’s free to join the club, which offers amazing exclusive sales and convenient sales alerts.
