Hello there, shoppers! If you think the fall season is a busy one, wait until you get a load of all of the spectacular shopping events coming up soon in our area — starting tonight!
The rundown …
Tonight, from 5-7 p.m., The Mosaic District – to open a year from now — will be hosting a Fashion’s Night Out pop-up shop at Arlington Ridge Shopping Center on S. Glebe. Meet Rochelle Behrens, the genius behind The Shirt!, chosen as one of Oprah’s Favorite Things — think no more peek-throughs, ladies! The Shirt! will be paired with fashions from Anthropologie, Lou Lou, South Moon Under and Last Call from Neiman Marcus.
Then, tomorrow, famed Italian jewelry designer Roberto Coin will be making a special appearance, previewing his new collection at Neiman Marcus in Tysons Galleria from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.!
Saturday, in Silver Spring — yep, Maryland; don’t tell anyone — there will be a special shopping expo for expectant moms, the Baby Bash & Bling Expo & Show, from 1-4 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza. Expect expert tips, mocktails, previews of must-have baby products and more. Tickets start at $35.
Also on Saturday, Periwinkle of Potomac Green and Shirlington, will be benefiting The Race to End Women’s Cancer with 20 percent of sales from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Shop for a cause as you sample complimentary bevvies and sweets.
Then next weekend, stay tuned for a special pop-up shop in Georgetown (2805 M St. NW) — there I go, having you cross the river again — from the Richmond-based designers behind Ledbury luxury men’s shirts, adored by GQ and MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” among others. They’ll start the sale at 7 p.m. on Oct. 27 with a launch party featuring a whiskey bar and a little funk/soul. Then the sale will run Oct. 28-29 from 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m.
Also on Oct. 29, Potomac Mills will host a Role Models runway event honoring local women who go above and beyond to help others. The show will be hosted by Mix 107.3′s Aly Jacobs, and ticket proceeds will benefit Fashion for Paws, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Prince William chapter of the Virginia Breast Cancer Association.
Whew!
Happy shopping!

More Fab Details on FNO at Saks, Other NoVA Shops
Posted by Natalie Kaar / Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

"A Healthy Baby Begins With You" spokeswoman and wife of Spike Lee, Tanya Lewis Lee (tanyalewislee.com)
Hello there, shoppers! So, it’s unofficially fall.
The kids are back in school. The traffic is back to nightmarish levels. And the local shopping scene is hosting all sorts of events to get us excited about the new season — and help us forget all of that horrible traffic.
Of course this week things are really heating up on the shopping front with Fashion’s Night Out! While the FNO festivities are looking mighty fine in Georgetown, there’s no need to cross the river with what Alexandria’s BeautyFull Boutique (Fashion’s Night Out Plus for plus-size pretties), Tysons Corner Center stores (Quidam by Cirque du Soleil displays and music, plus cocktails, sweet treats, raffles, tons of store discounts and more) and Tysons Galleria stores (celebrity appearances, complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, gifts with purchase, sweepstakes, live music and more) have planned.
As for Tysons Galleria, we have more details on Thursday’s soiree at Saks, and they’re stellar.
So we told you there would be healthy cooking demonstrations with star chefs and a silent auction to benefit March of Dimes, but we haven’t filled you in that Oprah’s former trainer for her Life Your Best Life Tour, Laurent Amzallag, will be there along with chiropractor Dr. Jen Faber, who has helped keep the Lada Gaga dancers dancing.
Also, the event, taking place from 4-7 p.m., presenting by “A Healthy Baby Begins With You” celebrity spokeswomen Tanya Lewis Lee (wife of Spike Lee), Saks, The March of Dimes, The Office of Minority Health and DC Magazine will include makeovers and a photo booth in celebration of the new B Brian Atwood collection.
Hope you’re resting up!
Happy shopping!

Aqua Taking on a New Hue, Tysons Celebrating FNO
Posted by The Editorial Desk / Friday, August 27th, 2010

A fabulous vest from Aqua by Vena Cava (to be available at Bloomingdale's Sept. 1)
Good morning, shoppers! Happy Friday! Hope you didn’t get your fill of shopping sweets yesterday because, of course, there’s even more for you to enjoy today!
First, more great news from Bloomingdale’s: The store’s own contemporary, ready-to-wear line, Aqua, is getting a whole new look. Even more exciting, Bloomies is not revising the line on their own but with the help of famed designer Vena Cava, who has designed an exclusive 19-piece capsule collection to be available in stores and online next week, on Sept. 1.
The special collection, ranging from pleated shorts and flirty skirts to chiffon tops and geometric print dresses, translates Vena Cava’s dark and vintage aesthetic (adored by celebs including Natalie Portman) into Aqua’s modern, trendy appeal — a perfect marriage.
“As Aqua’s first collaboration, we wanted to offer a special collection that our dedicated customers will love as much as we do,” says Frank Doroff, vice chairman and GMM of ready-to-wear and B-direct for Bloomingdale’s. ”With Vena Cava’s tried and true design aesthetic combined with their fresh take on current trends, we know Aqua is in good hands.”
And as if the news of a new Aqua collection weren’t enough to get your shopping engines revved, wouldn’t you know Tysons Corner Center goes and takes that excitement to a whole new level. Tysons will be celebrating Fashion’s Night Out on Sept. 10, offering all sorts of special shopping perks, from trunk shows to cocktails to discounts and incredible giveaways. For instance, how does a little bubbly and a chance to win a bag at Michael Kors sound?
Finally, in enticing shopping news from Specialicious: Today through Sunday, you can snag a voucher for half off fine dining at Foti’s in Culpeper. Match that with the side deal from Prince Michel Winery, and you’ve just about purchased the perfect fall day.
Happy shopping!

Good morning, shoppers! Here’s hoping you all made it to where you are safely — and dry. Should you need a little lift this morning, other than some high, waterproof wedges or something, you’re in luck.
Fashionistas, as you know, the annual global fashion celebration Fashion’s Night Out is coming up soon, Sept. 10. What you may not have heard is that Georgetown is gearing up for the evening with perks planned that could rival even those in NYC! And, just think, no pricey train ticket or time off from work needed.
From 6-11 p.m. on Sept. 10, over 60 Georgetown stores, restaurants and salons will be joining together to make it one “epic” evening, offering over 60 unique fashion-focused events. Festivities are to include: Cirque du Soleil performances around the neighborhood (and a chance to win tickets to “Ovo” when it comes to D.C.); fashionista-themed cocktails for charity at Farmers & Fishers; a Nintendo Wii tournament at Lacoste with fantastic fall apparel prizes; a chic shoppers’ lounge at Dean & Deluca thanks to Vitaminwater; a Halston Heritage trunk show, gifts with purchase and treats at Urban Chic; free bus rides; pedicabs for those with a proof of purchase and much more!
“Fashion’s Night Out is one of the biggest and most exciting global fashion events ever to come to D.C., and Georgetown is absolutely thrilled to be the neighborhood leading the efforts for D.C.,” says Nancy Miyahira, marketing director of the Georgetown Business Improvement District, sponsor and organizer of the event.
For more information, follow Georgetown’s Fashion’s Night Out on Twitter (@FNOGeorgetown) on Facebook or at www.FashionsNightOutGeorgetownDC.com.

For those of you who love checking out celeb-designed frocks to see which stars truly have a fashion eye without the help of a stylist, you should be pleased to know that Lindsay Lohan is now an artistic advisor at Emanuel Ungaro, where she has been working closely with the design house’s newly appointed chief designer Estrella Archs. And, their collaborative spring/summer 2010 designs will take to the runway as soon as Oct 4, at Paris Fashion Week.
Now through Sunday, Sept. 13, you can score some free pants at The Limited, with a jacket purchase that is. This means you could snag a full Studio400 suit for less than $100.

Ps. Do you think a Lohan-inspired Ungaro line is a good idea or feel like she should stick to leggings and spray tanner?

Good morning, shoppers! I hope you all had a lovely holiday weekend. Did you bag a lot of bargains?! If you’re like me and were too busy to, fortunately there are still some amazing sales going on today.

And, besides, this Thursday promises to be a shopper’s dream. First of all, as many of you I’m sure are already aware, Thursday, Sept. 10, has been declared Fashion’s Night Out, in a global effort to promote retail, restore consumer confidence and celebrate fashion. While New York City is leading the way here in the States, several stores in our area are jumping into the action as well.
In MidCity D.C., a whole host of stores will be open until 11 p.m.; all Neiman Marcus stores are promising designer appearances and selling an exlusive $30 Fashion’s Night Out t-shirt of which 40 percent of proceeds will support the September 11 Memorial and Museum; and various Old Town Alexandria stores are to be participating as well, including Treat, which, is to offer a gift with purchase, treats and bubbly according to Maurisa Potts, an executive board member of the Greater Washington Fashion Chamber of Commerce (GWFCC). The GWFCC is spearheading the local effort.
And, in Reston, a very special soiree is to take place on Thursday evening at The Dandelion Patch. From 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., the store will welcome the area’s betrothed couples to unwind, network and make friends with fellow engaged couples. Attendees may sip champagne, indulge in chocolate-covered delights thanks to The Chocolate Chick, take advantage of special discounts and chat with the Doreen Tisone, editor of Engaged Magazine, who will be on hand to distribute hot-off-the-press editions of the glossy.
