Hello, ALL ACCESS: Fashion 2011
Posted by Natalie Kaar / Monday, June 27th, 2011
Hello there, shoppers! I’m back from the beach with some big news: September 22-24, ALL ACCESS: Fashion will be making its much-anticipated return to Tysons Galleria.
During the most special weekend event, expect runway shows from huge designers like Tory Burch (if you haven’t checked out her new store in the Galleria, you must soon!), Nicole Miller, Elie Tahari, Karen Millen and more, as well as amazing deals on fall/winter apparel from participating merchants like Saks, who will donate a minimum of 10 percent of sales to the Make-A-Wish Foundation!
Of course, as in years passed, you can also look forward to special guest appearances. I don’t know about you, but I’m still reeling from seeing fashion icon Tim Gunn in the flesh.
One to mark on the calendar right away, no?!
Happy shopping!

Hello there, shoppers!
So, the weather may be a bit cooler than usual this week — felt like football season when I took out the recycling yesterday morning — but the summer sales are really heating up.
A few of the hottest:
Steve Madden is having a huge sandal sale, featuring 40 percent off a wide range of styles. Speaking of sandals, starting tomorrow: The Shoe Hive’s annual summer sale starts, with discounts up to 30 percent.
Restoration Hardware Baby & Child — I’m a bit obsessed with this store — is having a mega sale, with discounts up to 65 percent.
South Moon Under is offering 20 percent off all Penguin styles and a free gift with purchase (while supplies last). Online, use code PENG20.
It’s Designer Sale time at Saks, with discounts up to 40 percent, 30 percent in contemporary.
Lord & Taylor has some great deals on swimwear. By the way, they have a HUGE selection. Also, don’t forget about the swim sale at Neiman Marcus.
And last but certainly not least, it’s also time for the Nicole Miller semi-annual sale — 50 percent off through July 4, baby!
Happy shopping!

Rent The Runway Grows and Grows
Posted by Natalie Kaar / Monday, April 25th, 2011
Hello there, shoppers! Here’s hoping you all had a wonderful holiday weekend! Even Monday isn’t bad when the meteorologists are calling for 80-degree weather, now is it? Speaking of things that aren’t too shabby, if you haven’t ever looked into Rent the Runway or explored it lately, you may be surprised to hear about all that you’ve been missing.
I had the pleasure of speaking with AJ Nicholas, director of public relations for the website, on Friday. She says the site, which allows fashionistas to rent designer dresses at a fraction of the cost of what it would take to buy them, now has over a million members and features 12,000 dresses from 120 designers. Plus, in January RTR added wedding apparel, featuring exclusive dresses and gowns from Robert Rodriguez, Calypso, Shoshanna, Nicole Miller and Badgley Mischka.
Imagine, ladies, a bridesmaid dress you adore, say from Nicole Miller, and instead of paying over $400, paying just $100! Or imagine showing up to your high school reunion in Hervé Léger (and paying just $150 instead of over $1,200).
Sizes 0-12 are available and a free “back-up size” is always offered along with the rental. Also, returning the rentals is cake. You just pack them up in a prepaid envelope, and RTR takes care of dry cleaning, etc. And, $5 insurance ensures you won’t be in for a pricey bill should you happen to spill some wine or split a seam as you dance the night away in your enviable ensemble.
If you haven’t signed up for membership yet, why the wait? Doing so is free. And wedding season is starting already! Not to mention, Gold Cup is less than two weeks away. And you know you want to dress up for a Royal Wedding party this weekend.
Happy shopping!

Hi there, shoppers! In case you haven’t had time to hit the stores lately, I thought it may be fun today to take a look at some of the absolutely fabulous summer sales, before you can’t find shorts, tank tops, sundresses or bikinis anywhere — at least without some major searching.
After all, while we should enjoy warm weather here for several more months, you know how it goes … come August, or even late July, the summer stunners are far gone. Run to the store for a last-minute dress purchase for a wedding: no dice. Set out on a mission to replace the sandals you ruined at all of those spring and early summer soirees: not much luck with that either. (Imagine my fashion fears, prego and growing by the day.)
Don’t get stuck wearing wool to the pool. Take advantage of these sales now:
Ralph Lauren stores and ralphlauren.com – The Summer Sale starts today, featuring an additional 25-percent discount on select sale items for men, women, children, baby and the home.
Simply Soles and simplysoles.com — The July Jubilee Sale is in full swing, this week featuring 40-percent savings on a slew of great shoes and more.
Nicole Miller and nicolemiller.com – It’s time for the Semi-Annual sale, but hurry, this sale ends Thursday, and you don’t want to miss the opportunity to save up to 70 percent on the 2010 spring collection!
(Oh, and here’s a sale to pencil in for tomorrow: The Last Cuts Sale at Cusp and cusp.com, which will feature savings up to 65 percent off original prices!)
You can also save on everyday winners this week. For instance, the Summer Sale is happening at Pottery Barn Kids and potterybarnkids.com right now, with up to 75-percent discounts on bedding, bath accessories, toys and more! Plus, parents, you can also snag amazing savings on PBK furniture floor models through July 23.
What’s more, this week your photo book purchases at mypublisher.com will help the relief efforts in the gulf while saving you money. The site will donate $5 for every order placed by July 19 to the Gulf Coast Restoration Fund, while offering 40 percent off orders over $100 and 20 percent off orders over $50 with the code “SAVEGULF.”
Happy shopping!

Ps. If you your coiff could use little extra love, don’t miss the opportunity to save 33 percent at Clarendon’s Nolas Salon on Specialicious.

A Few Lunchtime Shopper Must-Dos
Posted by The Editorial Desk / Tuesday, December 15th, 2009
Good morning, shoppers! In a continued effort to help you get your holiday shopping done sans stress, I just had to send you a few suggestions as to where to focus those feet should you be among the throngs of people who work in Tysons and hit the malls during lunch. While Tysons Corner Center is where the biggest selection of stores is and where you may expect to find the best bargains, this week especially, I recommend you include the Galleria in your plans as well.
In walking through Tysons Galleria last night on my way to a hair appointment, just the distance from the door by Lebanese Taverna up the escalator to Salon Bleu was eye-opening.
First, as some of you may already know, the Ann Taylor store there is closing soon. The last day for the store is Dec. 19, this Saturday, and everything there is currently being offered at a 25-percent discount.
I also noticed that DNA2050 is having a final sale, featuring up to 80-percent discounts on street wear and denim from designers including Diesel, William Rast and PRPS.
Yet my favorite reason to visit Tysons Galleria this week is the fact that Nicole Miller is having a huge sale, featuring up to a 50-percent discount on fabulous party dresses and more!
Of course the sales racks at Anthropologie are always quite enticing, too. FYI, the prices on blazers have been seriously slashed.
Just a little food for thought.
Happy shopping!
Ps. Keeping things cool in Clarendon and looking for a great gift for your favorite guy? Check out this Wolf vs. Goat shirt designed by Farinelli’s Mauro Farinelli and Heather Karpoff. Love it!

Good morning, shoppers, and Happy Veterans Day! Whether you’re stuck at your desk like moi or enjoying a day off from work, I thought I’d share a few of the oh-so-delicious deals I don’t think you’re going to want to miss out on today, as well as a few exciting contests. Of course, don’t forget the mega sales that are still going on at stores like Nordstrom and Lord & Taylor.
First, for those of you working today and dreaming of hopping on a jet and taking a little vacay, Virgin Atlantic is offering discount flights, just $105 each way, from Dulles to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle. The sale is valid for midweek departures through March 10, which must be booked by Nov. 17. Thanks, Travelzoo, for the heads-up. Want to book now? Click here.
Just as exciting, Neiman Marcus is offering 40-percent savings on items from hundreds of designer names, in stores and online, for today only. Plus, only in stores today, you’ll also find 20 percent off cosmetics!
Betsey Johnson is also offering practical steals today, from 30 to 50 percent discounts, plus free shipping online, on orders of $200 or more.
And the same goes for Nicole Miller. Online, save 15 percent on accessories with the code “NM15OFF” through next Tuesday. Plus, check out this great selection of dresses also seriously discounted.
What’s more, you can also save a lot of dough on items for the home with 10 percent off Energy Star major appliances of $397 or more being offered at Lowe’s through Sunday; $200 off any Broyhill dining room purchase at Belfort Furniture being offered through Nov. 22; and huge discounts currently being offered on various items, from Frutta ceramics to Wusthof knives, at Sur La Table, both online and in stores.
Prefer to try your hand at winning FREE stuff? Tell ebates.com about your holiday shopping plans and you could win a $100 gift card. Or, this Saturday, be one of the first 50 shoppers to show up at the 10 a.m. reopening of Gap at Tysons Corner Center to score a $50 gift card.

Gearing up for all of the holiday shopping specials? Here’s your go-to guide!

Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets are having a July 4th Summer Sale through Monday. Save 25 to 65 percent at stores like Ann Taylor, BCBG Max Azria, Coach, DKNY, Kate Spade, Saks Fifth Avenue, Lacoste, Pottery Barn and Williams & Sonoma.
Of course, area Macy’s stores are in on the sweet sale action, too. You’ll save 25 to 80 percent through July 5 with an All-Day Savings Pass.
Looking for formal wear or a wedding dress for the summer? Make sure to stop by the Priscilla of Boston trunk show in Tysons Corner, which lasts through July 6. Also in Tysons, Nicole Miller stunners are now marked up to 60 percent off. (Another FYI, Nicole Miller fans: It’s still not too late to enter the designer’s contest for a $1,000 shopping spree.)
If you plan to hit up The Attic at Hysteria, which, per usual, has massive discounts on designer clothes, bags and accessories, don’t leave Alexandria before checking out the sale items at Silver Parrot Jewelry Boutique, too.
And, don’t forget to include nearby Arlington in your plans, as well, as Farinelli’s 4th of July sale is a must! Save 65 percent on spring/summer fashions and 50 percent on denim in-store, as well as online with the codes “FOURTHOFJULY” and “FOURTHOFJULYDENIM”.
Yet another store calling your name … Lord & Taylor is offering 20 to 30 percent off their online selection; that’s with the code “JULY4″. And, don’t forget about swimwear savings of up to 50 percent! Plus, here’s a coupon for 20 percent off in-store merchandise.
Are shoes and accessories what you’re after? You can save 30 percent on Steve Madden shoes and bags plus ship them for free with the code “SPIN30″ until July 5. And, just a little heads-up: Stylish heels like the trufle come in a variety of summer colors.
If only the top designers will do, here’s a real treat: Save 40 percent off already-reduced Cusp merchandise in stores, plus receive free shipping on any Cusp.com order with the code “CUSPFS”. Likewise, save 60 percent on clothing from the Saks Fifth Avenue during the designer sale.
Then again, if you’re hoping to find some fabulous deals on furniture, consider Frontgate. You can receive $50 off the website’s Zen Conversational Seating Furniture collection, including outdoor furnishings and pool essentials.
Could the kiddos use some cool new clothes? The American Eagle Outfitter’s summer collection is up to 70 percent off, and shipping is free all week online.
And, don’t forget about the many semi-annual sales going on now, too. A few great examples: This season’s essentials from South Moon Under are 50 percent off. And, Bath and Body Works is offering “buy three, get three free” on their signature collection of fragrances, as well as free hand sanitizer with any in-store purchase.
Still, that’s not all. Feel free to share the scoop on any of your favorite holiday bargains!
