Style Sense: Meet Aimee Wedlake Lange

Hello, Shoppers! You’re probably already familiar with Valerianne’s unique and elegant collection of bath products, home goods, bedroom decor and gift selections. What you may not be familiar with is the Vienna shop’s owner, Aimee Wedlake Lange. She runs a beautiful store, is a recent new mommy and on top of it all, she has great personal style!
Q: How would you define your personal style?
A: I think it’s mostly Bohemian and relaxed.
Q: What is your wardrobe staple?
A: Right before I got married, I treated myself to a Diane von Furstenberg tunic that I have worn to death – through every season and with everything from Frye boots, to heels, to flip flops. It has a great retro native pattern to it that I never tire of.
Q: Who are your favorite designers right now?
A: I wore a Rebecca Taylor dress recently and absolutely loved it, so she’s probably one of my faves for the moment.
Q: Who inspires your style?
A: I think just everyday style inspires me. I like to see how my customers and regular people on the street put things together.
Q: What is your favorite accessory?
A: I’m really into belts right now, probably because I was pregnant and couldn’t wear them for so long! I also love a great bangle or cuff.
Q: Any store faves for good deals?
A: Treat in Alexandria is always a great place to visit. The clothes are fun, and they usually have great prices. I also recently tried out Rent The Runway and thought it was really cool.
Q: What is your favorite jewelry to accessorize with?
A: I always love a great pair of earrings and funky cocktail rings. My favorite types of jewelry are more “found” pieces, as opposed to brand-driven.
Q: Where are some of your favorite places to shop baby clothes?
A: I do a lot online (Baby Gap, Old Navy, Zulily); I watch for sales and then have LOTS of fun! I really like Appleseed in Alexandria, and one of my go tos is Paddington Station in Vienna – I have found some great things there for great prices. I was just in Rehoboth and came across Sole Kids – such great stuff, such great people… I can’t wait to visit again.
Q: Any style tips for our readers?
A: I’ve learned over the years to wear something you’re comfortable in. Just make sure you wear the clothes and they don’t wear you! It should match who you are and how you feel.

Good morning, shoppers. Here’s hoping you all had a terrific weekend. I sure did; though, here’s hoping I receive some awesome customer service from a certain store today. You see, I purchased a pair of stilettos on Friday night that when worn on Saturday to my friends’ wedding didn’t make it through the cocktail hour before becoming unglued, literally. Fortunately, the Four Seasons staff in Georgetown absolutely rocks in every way, even in dealing with fashion emergencies!
Speaking of things that rock, Gap’s Give & Get Friends & Family Program is back! Beginning this Thursday, July 30, those who are invited by Gap directly or through friends and family will be able to save 30 percent at Gap, Gap Outlet, Banana Republic, Banana Republic Factory Stores, Old Navy and Athleta (in stores and online) through August 2. Plus, each person invited to Give & Get from Gap gets to designate a charity to receive five percent of the sales he or she makes personally plus five percent of his or her’s friends and family’s purchases.
If you don’t receive the link by Thursday, let me know (natalie@northernvirginiamag.com). I’ll be happy to invite the first 25 people who contact me requesting it in order to help benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
