Closet Crushes: Hayden Panettiere
Posted by Skylar Korby / Thursday, January 31st, 2013
Hayden Panettiere has come a long way from the pigtails and t-shirt she sported in “Remember the Titans” (2000). The 23-year-old actress is no stranger to the big and small screens, with stints in such movies as “Bring it On: All or Nothing” (2006), ”I Love You, Beth Cooper” (2009) and the TV series “Heroes.”
Most recently, however, the star of ABC’s “Nashville” has wowed red carpet audiences with an array of gorgeous dresses that lack neither glamour nor glitter. Panettiere has transformed into the picture of sophistication while still maintaining a carefree, girlish vibe, ensuring that we’ll get to fawn over her style for many years to come.

Sure Things: Erno Laszlo Phormula 3-9 Repair Creme

You know the old adage, “If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.” And that’s exactly what yours truly was thinking when getting informed about the benefits of the Erno Laszlo Phormula 3-9 Repair Creme. The company’s description of the product: “Phormula 3-9 Repair Cream is a daily nutritional supplement for the skin, offering superior hydration, strong anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties for renewed skin cell energy and a more youthful appearance.” Basically, consider the stuff youth in a bottle, err, jar.
Then again, there’s always the saying, “There’s no such thing as a free lunch.” And this stuff certainly doesn’t fall under the free category at a pricey $265 per 1.7 oz. My thoughts after getting tuned into the price tag: The stuff better be amazing.
In other words, there was a bit of skepticism at play as I started adding the Phormula 3-9 Repair Creme to my daily skincare regimen. Fed up with winter’s wrath on my dry-but-with-a-tendency-to-break-out skin, I started dotting on and rubbing in a few dabs of the stuff to my forehead, nose, cheeks and chin after washing my face with my usual face wash and applying my everyday moisturizer and eye cream.

The Inauguration was a week ago, but we’re still not over all of the beautiful styles that graced Pennsylvania Avenue. Of course, the fashion was appropriately breathtaking, but any woman knows that a fabulous night out can be ruined by not-so-fabulous hair, and that’s where Dusan and Rachel Grante of ARTHUR Christine Salon and Academy shined.

She is the author of the children’s book “Ladder to the Moon,” and is working on another book about peace education and conflict resolution in high schools.

Posted by Arienne Gascon / Friday, January 25th, 2013
So what’s all the buzz about Lillybee shoes? We recently interviewed owner/designer and local gal Kassie Rempel to get the scoop on what makes her shoes so sweet! If you are like Rempel, then you understand that trying to find well-made shoes with unique style that won’t break the bank can be hard to come by. That’s what makes Lillybee so refreshing.
Rempel’s reasonably priced and totally stylish Lillybee line, launched in 2008, came from the outgrowth of her shoe boutique founded back in 2004, Simplysoles. Lillybee quickly became the store’s best-selling line, selling out in its first season. Turning from shoe buyer to shoe designer Rempel transformed, designing shoes for the everyday woman with style. In 2011 she partnered with designer and brand manager, Lisa Palmer, and together the company took off.
Today more successful than ever and with the addition of Megan Dickens, operations manager to the brand, they are providing fabulous footwear as well as handbags women everywhere are embracing with enthusiasm.

Today is National Compliment Day, and although the big day to show your love for your significant other is still three weeks away, it’s always a good time to let someone know you’re their biggest fan. Mama always said, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all,” but why not say it and give it with these delightful displays of admiration?
The best part of waking up is a compliment on your cup.
