Spring Break Guide: Sizzling Swimsuits for Any Shape

Posted by Hilary Adleberg / Monday, March 26th, 2012

Strap in for a hot spring break with some sizzling bathing suits. Here are some of our favorite swimsuits picks for every figure—body wise and price wise. Whether you’re boy-shaped, busty, lean or curvy find the suit that makes you look and feel beautiful and confident this swim season.

Straight Away

For straight silhouettes don’t be afraid to accentuate your curves with ruffles, ties, bold stripes or other embellishments. These swimsuits emphasize your bust and hips and add volume to create a seemingly curvier figure.

A Lovely Pear

Pear-shaped figures carry more weight in their lower half of the body. To detract attention from your hips, thighs and legs wear a lower neckline or bright colors on top.

Athletically Inclined

The athletic silhouette tends to lend a squarer figure with broad shoulders, a short waist and more narrow hips. Athletic builds may have to mix and match bathing suit tops and bottoms because often what fits the bottom half will be too small on the top.

Apple Picking

Similar to athletic figures, apple-shapes have a larger upper body and fuller breasts. Bathing suits need to provide more support and may need to offer more coverage to the middle area.

Hourglass Shape

A curvy top and bottom calls for a bathing suit that complements and supports curves. Opt for more supportive looks with underwire or halter and stay away from anything with a shifty string top or bottom .

Hello there, shoppers! If you’re excited to go holiday shopping but armed with less than ample ideas, you’re not alone. If only everyone would be forthcoming with their wish lists, right? Santa has it so easy with everyone being so specific — minus all that travel and the length of his list.

At any rate, fret no more. Help is here. Inspiration shall abound. Your friends at SWAG have done all the homework so you don’t have to. Each weekday today through Dec. 13, score ideas for absolutely everyone on your list!

Today:

Why: A romantic wants to spend as much time as he or she can with his/her lover and, hey, everyone’s gotta eat. Most cookbooks for lovers are merely ones with sensual-sounding recipes or aphrodisiac ingredients. This one may not look like much, but it divides everything from shopping to cleaning up into two roles, making the experience of cooking for two way more romantic.

Where to Get It: Booksellers, including Barnes & Nobles and Amazon

What It’ll Cost You: $18.75 and up

What: Swarovski Crystalline Toasting Flute Set

Sure Thing: VS Makeup Eyeliner

Posted by The Editorial Desk / Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

All eyeliners aren’t created equal. Many crack, aren’t dark enough or don’t even show up. Well, here’s an eyeliner for all.

The VS Makeup Eyeliner from Victoria’s Secret.

The VS Eyeliner

The VS Makeup Eyeliner, from Victoria's Secret, is my favorite eyeliner. There are seven other colors, including the black one showed here. (Photo courtesy of www.victoriassecret.com)

I love this eyeliner because it goes on so smooth. It’s available in enough colors to please your whole wardrobe. I’ve been using the black color for years and it’s my favorite out of all of them. Those vibrant hues include:

Black Velvet
Midnight
Dark Chocolate

Some of you might have used the Very Sexy collection. The VS Makeup collection is even better. The eyeliner stick also comes with a smudger tip, perfect if you like smoky eyes.

This eyeliner doesn’t go away within a couple hours so it’s perfect to wear throughout the day. Victoria’s Secret even sometimes uses the eyeliner during their fashion shows.

The best thing is the eyeliner only costs $12. It’s available at Victoria’s Secret Stores and online. All of this definitely makes this eyeliner a sure thing.

Intimates: You Have Spoken

Posted by The Editorial Desk / Friday, April 2nd, 2010

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

I received a variety of responses concerning this week’s earlier blog entry, which asked whether or not ladies should match their undergarments. While frankly I’m satisfied if my shades of black are matching, many respondents say it’s a good move.

“I have only matched my lingerie once, and that wasn’t even a pure match. I simply wear my lacey, black thong that matches my black and beige Vikki’s bra. Rather than buying a bra and panty set, I create my own combination. Although it has been ages since I have actually thought about my undergarments being seen in the intimate setting, I still wouldn’t go out and buy a new set of lingerie. If the guy doesn’t like what I wear, then he can go buy me something new, or he doesn’t have to take my clothes off at all. The bigger issue is grooming.”—Miss Match

“For every bra I buy, I also get at least two to three pairs of matching underwear. I have probably 15 bras, so it’s always easy to match. … I used to buy two to three new bras a year at $30-$40 apiece and three pairs of underwear for $30. Then, I put them in rotation. Yes, it was pricey but definitely a need. … My current boyfriend will, on occasion, comment that he likes what I am wearing. It’s the unexpected comments from him that make me feel special, and it’s usually on a day when I didn’t even put thought into my underwear.”—Pretty in My Pretties

“I match 90 percent of the time. I feel embarrassed if I don’t. What if I get into a car accident?? Then everyone will know I don’t match.”—Ives

Whether or not you believe matching is necessary, lingerie has become the focal point for many of us when we dress. With a number of amazing specialty stores for lingerie, there are more choices in style, color and wearability. There’s no denying we’ve come a long way.
