Hey there, shoppers! Here’s hoping you’re managing to stay warm today. What happened to our pretty fall weather? Hopefully it will be back soon. Should it not return quickly, however, fortunately we have plenty of festive fall events to make us feel warm and fuzzy.
One prime example: this Thursday’s “Treats for Treats” event in Historic Vienna, which will provide both the opportunity to celebrate Halloween a little early as well as the opportunity to help neighbors in need.
From 5 to 8 p.m., select merchants throughout the town will be offering special discounts, tasty treats and prizes to costume-clad customers who donate nonperishable food items. The donations, which will be collected by the Vienna Assembly of God Church, will be distributed to Food for Others and the Western Fairfax Christian Food Pantry.
A few of the special treats for donors:
–A free jewelry polishing cloth from Achikian Goldsmiths Inc., 131 Church St. NW
–A 10 percent discount on purchases at Applegate Gallery & Custom Framing, 101 Church St. NW
–A 25 percent discount on any one item at The Artful Gift Shop, 145-B Church St. NW (Plus, people and pets who wear a costume, receive a free Halloween treat.)
