We’ve dug out of a snowstorm this weekend and dealt with frigid weather for a while. It’s looking like a pleasant weekend, though, so get out of the house … and go watch a movie! I heard that on Wednesday, a mishap with a popcorn warmer at Fairfax’s Cinema Arts Theatre caused a small fire, wiping out some candy, taking out a computer and burning a load of popcorn. Head over there and indulge in some popcorn, candy and Coke to help our little arts theater out. And it’s a good weekend for that, with the opening of the Italian mafia epic “Gomorrah.” It’s a good option for anybody who loves the “Godfather” flicks, “The Sopranos,” “Goodfellas” and other gangster movies, chronicling corruption in a crime family in Naples and Caserta. Gang violence and cursing? Check and check!
I’m not sure what’s up, but Tuesday is the bannerest of banner days when it comes to DVD releases. It is STACKED full of goodness. If you’re a fan o’ the drama, there’s the Best Picture nominee “Milk” with Sean Penn (who captured the Best Actor Academy Award for his portrayal of gay activist Harvey Milk) and “Rachel Getting Married,” which helped Anne Hathaway get her Best Actress nod. If you’re into awesome foreign horror movies, there’s the Swedish vampire love story-ish “Let the Right One In.” Those who liked “Amelie” will probably get into the optimistic and quirky Brit flick “Happy-Go-Lucky.” Like action? Jason Statham kicks a serious amount of bootay in “Transporter 3.” Cartoon peeps will adore the new 70th anniversary edition and Blu-ray debut of Disney’s classic “Pinocchio.” Fans of the funny will be all about Paul Rudd, Seann William Scott and that McLovin kid in “Role Models.” The “Batman Anthology” makes its first appearance on Blu-Ray — feel free to “accidentally” lose the George Clooney chapter, “Batman and Robin.” And one of “South Park’s” best seasons arrives on DVD, a 12th volume that features skewers of “Twilight,” “High School Musical,” George Lucas, Britney Spears, Canada and the 2008 presidential election.
Got big weekend plans you want to share? Let the rest of NoVA Pop Nation know in the comments section! See ya next week!
Who is everyone’s favorite batman? I’m gonna have to go with Bale. EVEN THOUGH the raspy growly voice thing is extremely annoying. That dude is committed!

Yeah, gotta give props to Bale. As far as for how they looked under the cowl though, I always thought Val Kilmer had the best jawline for the role. And he didn’t sound like Cookie Monster, which is a plus.
