First things first – the best thing I ever DRANK close to home that wasn’t wine: Restaurant Eve’s magnificent tomato-water based Bloody Mary, zippy with Serrano chile, seductive with lemongrass, heady with Grey Goose Citron,surprisingly garnished with fresh savory.

For eats, the second best thing I ever ate (like to keep that first slot open!) – grilled fish at venerable La Rosetta in Rome. Our party of four just asked the chef to keep it coming: baby octopus, giant prawns, tender squid, wondrous fish, course after course all washed down with superb house-chosen wines. Every sense remembers every bite.

As for crab cakes, I’ve never had the ones from Stoney’s, but I can’t imagine any tasting better than the ones at Barbara Jean’s on St. Simons Island!

You are correct, Stoney’s has the best crab cakes I’ve ever had too. I’ve tried a few places too, all over the country and nothing compares to our own Stoney’s restaurant. I even know people that have ordered it from other states. At least we can be known for one good thing, granted they are on the Calvert side.
