The Proposal (according to Sara): Any flight Dan and I book seems to have “mechanical issues.” If there is a connecting flight, we will most definitely miss it. This time, we spent three extra hours in the airport. I said, “At least our luggage will be there,” but, unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

By the time we arrived at our hotel, I was in a really bad mood and thought a walk around the resort was what we needed. Normally my camera goes everywhere with me, and Dan doesn’t always share my love of picture taking. After the day we’d had, I decided to give him a break, and said I wasn’t going to bring my camera. I should have realized something was up when Dan said, “No, you should bring it,” but I was completely clueless.

Dan and I had been dating for almost three years, but I didn’t think he’d propose anytime soon. I had no idea he spent the week before our trip talking to my parents and picking out a ring with my best friend. He hadn’t realized that getting a ring on a Wednesday, with the intention of proposing on Monday, would be difficult, but he managed to pull it off.

The sun was setting as Dan led me to a spot near the water. The shock I felt when he got down on one knee and pulled out my ring is something I will never forget. What began as a horrible day ended up being one of the happiest!
