Proposal of the Month: October

Julia (Mudre) and Eric Sarver

The Couple: Julia (Mudre) and Eric Sarver

Wedding Date: September 6, 2009

The Proposal:  It was Columbus Day, and Julia was off from work. She got a call from Eric asking her to meet up for lunch. They decided to have lunch in Alexandria … their favorite place. They enjoyed a really nice meal outside at a quaint Italian restaurant. (During this meal Eric was not acting strange or nervous, so Julia had no idea what was coming).

After the meal, they decided to take a quick walk. They walked to their favorite sitting spot, a row of benches along the water. While sitting and enjoying the view, Eric turned to Julia and said he had written her a poem, well actually, it was a song. He pulled out a folded piece of paper and proceeded to read the song to her. She was so excited to hear it; she had secretly been wanting him to write her a song ever since they started dating.

The song was beautiful, and by the time he finished, Julia had tears streaming down her face. Then Eric looked at her and said there was more … the song came with a present.

Before she realized what was happening, he had already pulled a box out of his pocket, gotten down on one knee and opened the box. He asked her to marry him and put the most beautiful ring she’d ever seen on her finger. She was so excited and emotional, that she wasn’t speaking English, just squealing a lot!

After she calmed down, Eric took her hands and told her that he had planned the entire rest of the day. From Alexandria they went to a show at the Smithsonian Planetarium in D.C. After the show, Eric pulled a guitar out of the trunk of his car and actually sang his song to her on a bench in the middle of D.C. And the night was capped off with a reservation at Clyde’s in Tysons Corner where fresh flowers awaited them at the table.

Says Julia, “It was the most perfect day.”
