Proposal of the Month: December

Kristen (Cherest) and Steven Abraham

The Couple: Kristen (Cherest) and Steven Abraham

Engagement Date: October 17, 2008

Wedding Date: October 31, 2009

The Proposal (according to Steven): On a Friday not unlike any other, I told Kristen that we had a date. I had a trusted co-conspirator meet her at work, and I sent Kristen on a scavenger hunt where she had to go to four locations.

At each location there was a poem, a present and clue to the next. Each poem incorporated the “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” words. Each location was somewhere is special for us. As an example, the first place she went to was a sushi bar where we met for drinks at the outset of our relationship. Her present in this location was a copy of the e-mail in which she had invited me to the happy hour.

This continued through all four locations until she was directed to my house. Once at my house, I played a photo/video montage of the two of us over the past three years together that I had secretly made myself, set to Tim McGraw’s version of “When the Stars Go Blue.”

At the conclusion of the video, I got down on a knee and proposed.

The next night (Saturday) I threw a surprise (it was a surprise to her) engagement party for us. She wanted to go to Maryland and visit her parents, and I insisted I had committed us to dinner plans. Needless to say, her parents were in attendance at the surprise party. She nearly took her father off of his feet, she tackled him so hard when she saw him.
