The only restaurant news to come out of Reston Town Center so far this year is the relocation of Ben & Jerry’s scoop shop just down the street from where it was previously. But you probably shouldn’t be finding food inspiration in between the chains there anyway.

After years in Florida as owners of a slew of Five Guys franchises, Northern Virginia natives and brothers Matthew, Patrick and Ryan Tracy were ready for something new. “It was unbelievable timing,” says Ryan Tracy of the availability of the former Lakeside Inn space, “because we lived 20 years of our lives right down the street.” The restaurant is now Red’s Table, a modern, welcoming space with a menu to match.

Food spans delicate and high-end with an Arctic char crudo decorated in apple, radish and horseradish and a fried chicken plate and a burger. But don’t let the label fool you. Find upgrades everywhere: A savory black garlic aioli is drizzled over the crispy chicken skin, the grass-fed beef is from a local farm, and the bun and pickles are both housemade. Sourcing doesn’t stop with the proteins. At last check, the draft beer list is 100 percent from Virginia, Maryland and D.C. Don’t look to the town center for a love that local.
