W&OD Trail
Forty-five miles of straight exploration runs through Northern Virginia. From Shirlington to Purcellville, millions have biked along this trail—called the skinniest park in Virginia—through urban cities and rural towns and have made a day of it by stopping in all the shops and restaurants that have popped up along the way, from Green Lizard Cycling & Coffee, Carolina Brothers Pit Barbecue and Old Ox Brewing in Ashburn to the many retail options in Shirlington and Vienna, through which the trail runs. –LN
