Theodore Roosevelt Island

Though it technically sits in the D.C. waterways, one can only get to Theodore Roosevelt Island from Virginia. Each year over 160,000 people visit this forested oasis, built in homage to America’s 26th president, and take in the three looping trails offering sites of Georgetown, The Kennedy Center, the Key Bridge and the 17-foot statue of Roosevelt. –LN
